Aesop's Fables. The Lion and the Mouse.

This is a classic American fable of a lion and a mouse. One day when a lion was asleep a little mouse ran up and down him. When the lion awoke he snatched up the mouse in his paw. The mouse begged the lion not to eat him and promised that one day he might be able to help him. The lion did not believe the mouse but released him anyway because he thought the mouse was funny. Well, one day the Lion got in trouble when some hunters caught him and tied him up while they went to get something to transport him in. The little mouse happened to come along at the right time and saw that the lion was in trouble. The little mouse chewed on the ropes until the lion was freed. Like every other fable this one has a lesson: be nice to everyone you never know when you may need help. This is one of many classic fables that can be used in the classroom to teach fables motifs.
