The Hello Goodbye Window is the name of the book and of the window in the story. This story is narrated from the point of view of a young girl who is staying with her grandparents. She tells about the trip which always begins at the kitchen window she calls the hello goodbye window. She reminisces on her grandparents greeting her through the window by making funny faces. While at her grandparents she counts stars with her grandma while looking out the window and watches her grandfather prepare by breakfast while looking in the window. A great thing about this book that makes it stand out from so many other books is that the title character comes from a mixed race family. This is wonderful for students that are bi-racial because it presents a family and a character that they can truly relate to. Still today that is difficult to find in many books. This is also great for all young children, but especially children that often have to stay with others because their parents are working.
