Silverstein, Shel. (2005). Runny Babbit-A Billy Sook. U.S.A.: Harper Collins.
Runny Babbit is a poetry book written by Shel Silverstein. This book is excellent for introducing younger students to poetry. It puts a twist on poetry by speaking in a pig-latin like language. There are very vivid pictures throughout the entire book that help the reader decipher the original poetry style. It is a story that tells the story of a young rabbit and his daily life with his family. The format of this poetry only comes in print. I have this book in my classroom library. I tend to have at least one student a day ask if he/she can borrow the book. Content wise this book is mainly suitable for middle elementary grades such as 2-6.
